The Tim McVannel Memorial Scholarships were created in 2006 from funds contributed by Tim’s family and friends. The awards are presented annually to two recipients who exhibit the characteristics that endeared Tim to those who knew him.

Tim was a member of the Marquette Senior High School Class of 2001. He loved the outdoors and was an avid backpacker, camper and bowler. He was well known for his nonjudgmental nature and good listening skills. Tim was fondly known as a “gentle giant” with a compassionate heart. He was masterful at putting a smile on people’s faces and sharing kind words.
