Family, friends, students and colleagues make possible this scholarship celebrating the life of Faye M. Amo who entered eternal life July 13, 2011.

From her days in grade school, Faye held the desire to become a teacher. She obtained a double master’s degree in English and French at Northern and later studied at the University of the Sorbonne in Paris where she earned highest honors in French.
Affectionately known as Madame Amo, she had an exceptional 31 year career at Marquette Senior High School.

She truly cared about her students and was dedicated to their education and well-being. Throughout her life, Faye maintained an untiring interest in the students at MSHS, often asking parents about their children, even though the children may never have been her students and she kept in regular contact with students who were living adult lives, with families of their own. Faye was considered a consummate professional with a passion for teaching French.

To be considered eligible for this scholarship students:
  • Must demonstrate sincere effort in achieving academically
  • Should display a passion for cultural awareness
  • Should lead by example showing what it means to “fight the good fight” and “never give up”
  • Should act as their authentic self and use out-side the box thinking
