The Jack Rantanen Memorial Scholarship was created in 2025 to aid a recipient in their education in the Lineman trade, a trade that Jack loved. This scholarship will assist the recipient in obtaining the necessary safety equipment needed to participate in the Electrical Line Technician (ELT) program at Northern Michigan University.

Jack was a lifelong resident of Marquette and a graduate of MSHS. Jack was a loving, loyal, caring, and strong individual that answered the call for qualified tradespeople. He graduated from the Lineman program at NMU in 2020 and worked across the country helping to restore power following hurricanes and other natural disasters. He went wherever he was called to help.

This scholarship will be awarded annually to a Marquette senior graduate that is pursuing post-secondary education in the lineman trade.
