Lawrence Family Fund

The Lawrence Family Scholarships were made possible by a generous gift from the estate of Earl and Frances Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence was raised on the north side of Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School in 1935. Mr. Lawrence left the area to work in Texas at an envelope manufacturing business. He later moved to California where he established his own successful envelope business, Western States Envelope Company. Funds donated to the Marquette Area Public Schools Education Foundation by the Lawrence family will support these scholarships and many other endeavors for years to come.

These scholarships are awarded annually to graduating seniors from Marquette Area Public Schools seeking to enter post secondary education. The students will demonstrate the following personal substantial characteristics:
  • Adhere to all qualities of a good citizen
  • Consistently strive to do their personal best
  • Display a positive attitude
  • Show themselves to be dependable and responsible
  • Exhibit an interest in the well-being of others
  • Demonstrate consistent school attendance
  • Indicate an interest in business or vocational education
