Description

The Marianne Mazzuchi Evans Memorial Scholarship is made possible through the generous donations of her family and friends.

Marianne graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1981 and received a degree in Elementary Education from Northern Michigan University. She began teaching in the Marquette Area Public Schools in 1995, first at Graveraet Middle School and then at Bothwell Middle School. In 2002-03, she deservedly was named Marquette Area Public Schools “Teacher of the Year.”

Mrs. Evans’ students were very precious to her and she reached out to all students. Many of her past students still remember Mrs. Evans’ motto “You don’t have to, you get to.” She treated them as individuals and helped them strive to be the very best. Her goal was to make each and every student successful in her classroom. “I have very high expectations”, Mrs. Evans said. “I celebrate their (her students) successes and encourage them to be the best individual persons they can be.”

Marianne was lovingly devoted to her girls, Grace, Rachael and Sarah, and spent much of her life dedicated to their care. She also loved the beautiful Upper Peninsula and enjoyed outdoor activities, such as hiking and bird watching with her husband, John.
