Since Nancy Steinhoff was the first in her family to complete an extended education after graduating from Graveraet, earning a bachelor’s degree from NMU and ultimately a Doctorate in Education it was important to her to establish this scholarship in honor of her Mom, Bertha, Aunt Helen and Uncle Matt all previous Graveraet graduates, who were unable to do so. The following criteria has been established to be considered eligible for the Scholarships(s):

 1. First person in their family to seek education beyond high school

 2. Earn either a certification or a two or four year degree from an Institution of higher education

 3. Preference will be given to the recipient intending to pursue a Baccalaureate Degree at Northern Michigan University
